Mrs. Carolyn Lucille Davis was born on January 16, 1947 to Howard Lang, Sr., and LuAllye Owens Lang in McIntosh, Alabama. She departed this life on Saturday, December, 14, 2013.
Mrs. Davis accepted Christ into her life at an early age. She was a devoted member of Progressive Union Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher and a choir member of "The Voices of Praise." She graduated from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University with her Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1975. She taught at Terry Heights Elementary School and often spoke lovingly of the children whose lives she touched. After her career in education ended, she focused on raising her daughters and assisting her husband in operating Bennie Davis Concrete Contracting, Inc.
She is preceded in death by her husband of twenty-nine years, Bennie William Davis; her parents, Howard Lang, Sr., and LuAllye Owens Lang; brother, Howard Lang, Jr.
Left with profound and loving memories are her children, Tonya (Cliff) Binford-Hixon, Cheryl Denene Binford; siblings, Gwendolyn (Ulysses) Reed of Mobile, Alabama, Ollie (Robert) Williams, "devoted caregivers" of Mobile, Alabama, David Lang of McIntosh, Alabama, Ed Lang of Houston, Texas; a treasured aunt, Mrs. Lucille Reed of McIntosh, Alabama; adopted grandchildren, Maci Noelle Williams of Huntsville, Alabama, Hailey Catherine Williams of Cincinnati, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Lousie (Jim) Green of Athens, Alabama, Mae Florence (Sammy) Milton of Huntsville, Alabama, Christine (Richard) Davis-Similton of Fort Worth, Texas, Earnestine (Jerry) Russel of Huntsville, Alabama; brothers-in-law, Roy Lee (Virginia) Davis of Athens, Alabama and Kenneth W. (Lynn) Davis of Huntsville, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2013, at the Progressive Union Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne P. Snodgrass officiating and Minister Vera Bell as eulogist. Interment will be in the Oakwood Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Davis will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.
