ATWOOD -- Clarence Lang, 71, died Thursday (May 9, 2002) at the Rawlins County Health Center in Atwood.

He was born Dec. 19, 1930, in rural Graham County at St. Peter, Kan., to Peter and Katharine (Rome) Lang.

He married Lillian Marie Sauer in St. Peter in 1950.

He worked for Beach Aircraft in Wichita, Kan., and after moving to Rawlins County in 1953, he operated the Standard Oil Station in Atwood. In 1960, he began working for the Rawlins County Highway Department, retiring in 1993.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and six brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian of Atwood; two sons, Carey and wife, Becky S. Lang and Leon and wife, Becky R. Lang, all of Atwood; one daughter, Joyce Karst of Topeka, Kan.; one brother, Bert and wife, Angie Lang; six sisters, Rena Rizzolo, Ann Rohleder, Armilla Kinderknecht and husband, Leo, Regina Dreiling, Leona Stone and husband, Harvey and Flo Meier; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at the Brantley Funeral Chapel in Atwood with the Rev. Damian Richards officiating. Inurnment will be at the Atwood Fairview Cemetery in Atwood.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Rawlins County Unit.
