OBITUARY: TIMES-REPUBLICAN, MARSHALLTOWN, IOWA, TUESDAY, MAY 1, 1984 - LAST COL. FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN ILLINOIS - Mrs. Florence Begley, 88, a former Marshalltown resident, died Sunday in Quincy, Ill. Graveside services will be held here at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Riverside cemetery. She was born Florence Lang Dec. 15, 1895, in Marshall County, the daughter of Augustus and Julie Arts Lang. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School. She married Peter Begley Nov. 25, 1925, in Chicago, Ill. They later lived in Toronto, Canada, where they lived most of their married life. In more recent years, she had lived in Chicago and was a resident of the Veterans Home at Quincy at the time of her death. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Callista Collins, Grandview Heights, a brother Matthew Lang, Marshalltown, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and four sisters.
