He married Mary Jane Staab on Aug. 6, 1948, in Catharine.
He owned and operated the White Front Inn and Track Inn, both in Lewisville, Colo., owned and operated the Frontier Post, Vine Street Bar, and Wagon Wheel Inn in Hays and was a supervisor in the custodial department at Fort Hays State University until his retirement. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Schoenchen Third Degree Knights of Columbus Council No. 4166. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; four sons, David Lang and wife, Cindy, Monroe, Wash., Wayne Lang and wife, Tammy, and Donald Lang and wife, Martha, all of Hays, and Alan Lang and wife, Susan, Wichita; a daughter, Dianne Patterson and husband, Charles, Ellis; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor Berger and Marietta Janda.
A traditional Catholic Latin Mass will be at noon Monday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 11 a.m. until time of service Monday, both at the funeral home. A Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday and a family rosary will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, both at the funeral home.
