Amelia Lang, 88, 1409 Montgomery, died Thursday, May 10, 2001 at St. John’s of Victoria Nursing Home where she had been a resident since March.

She was born Jan. 31, 1913 in Walker to Andrew and Barbara (VonFeldt) Scheck.

She married Emmanuel Lang on June 12, 1934 in Victoria. He died Dec. 18, 1983.

She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella, both of Hays, and the Ellis Chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons.

Survivors include five daughters, Jeanette Jacobs, Topeka, Doris Kohlrus and Lillian Lang, both of Hays, Darlene Leiker, Council Grove, and Bernadette Kreutzer, LaCrosse; two brothers, Julius Scheck, Great Bend, and Severin Scheck, Victoria; three sisters, Mary Ann Elliott, Teague, Texas, Helen Woodward, Wichita, and Evelyn Scheck, Great Bend; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Francis Lang.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father David Metz officiating; burial in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at Brock’s North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine. A Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. and a parish vigil at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Hospice of Hays Medical Center or Masses.
