Brown County Democrat 7 Dec 1934
LOUISA E. ALLEN

Once more the unwelcomed visitor of death has visited our community and has taken from our midst Mrs. Louisa E. Allen, wife of Thomas Allen. Mrs. Allen was the daughter of Benjamin and Rosa Lane and was born near Houston, June 7, 1863. She departed this life at her home at Buffalo Nov. 29, 1934, after a few days illness of pneumonia. She had spent most of her life in Jackson county.

In August, 1882, she was united in marriage to Thomas Allen. To this union were born five children, two girls and three boys. They are: Mrs. Bertha Williams, Mrs. Josephine Merrifield, Perry, Jesse and Lloyd Allen. Both girls have preceded their mother to the Great Beyond several years ago.

Mrs. Allen was a good mother, a loving wife, a kind neighbor, was always ready to help those in need and always ready to visit the sick. Her life has been so lived that she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Nearly forty years ago she united with the Church of Christ at Beck's Grove, but later transferred her membership to the Buffalo church. She has been a devoted and faithful member until death called her home.

She leaves to mourn her departure the heart broken husband, three sons, Perry and Jesse of Buffalo and Lloyd of Kurtz, Indiana, eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two brothers, Joseph Lane of Dayton, Ohio and Charley Lane of Seymour, Indiana. Besides these relatives she leaves a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral services were held at the Christian church at Houston Friday afternoon by Elder Schockney of Columbus and burial was in the Lutes cemetery.

Those who were called form a distance to attend the funeral of Mrs. Louisa Allen were Everett Williams and family, Prycey Waggoner and Mrs. Hezie Waggoner and little son, all of Columbus, Mrs. Charles Lane, Mrs. Alva Brock, Mrs. Guy Kindred and sister Bennie, all of Seymour, and Mr. and Mrs. Romer and two daughters, of Bernice.
