James Albert Lane, a veteran of the Civil War passed away at the home of his son, Albert Lane Sunday morning at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 8 days. A few weeks ago he fell and broke his hip, and later pneumonia developed, which really resulted in his death.

James A. Lane was born in Columbus, OH. He was married there when he was almost 24 years old to SARAH ANN FIZZELL, who passed away several years ago. To them twelve children were born, ten of whom are living. They are: HEZEKIAH and ALBERT LANE of Chariton, SW. SAMUEL Windfield of Delphos, IA, ADAM M. of Ottumwa, BENJAMIN L. of HARRISON Co., MO., Mrs. ALFERETTA Gott of Centerville, IA., Mrs. CHARLOTTE Sturber of Eddyville, IA. All were present at the funeral services.

Funeral services were held at the home of his son Monday, at 11:30 a.m., conducted by Rev. H.J. Boyce of the Baptist Church, after which the remains were interred in Sharon Cemetery in Wayne Co., IA.
