Roger Lane

Friends will be saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Roger A. Lane, who died at age 28 on Jan. 31, 2011 after an accident while crabbing in Netarts Bay.

Roger was born Aug. 31, 1982 in Lincoln City to Roger and Becky (Derrick) Lane. He was a graduate of Nestucca High School. He learned to work on cars by watching his father, and was respected as a gifted mechanic by the people he worked for, among them Fallon Logging, where he worked on diesel engines, and most recently for his father at Roger Lane Trucking. He also had done auto body work and auto painting in Portland for a few years, which allowed Roger to express his artistic side in addition to his fine work ethic.

Roger's greatest love was fishing. There was no place he would rather be than out on the water, trying to land his next fish. He also enjoyed crabbing and hunting. But, most importantly, Roger had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior with the help of Pastor Brad Smith.

He will be remembered and missed by his parents, Roger and Loretta Lane of Cloverdale; daughter Elena Lane of Portland; mother, Becky Larsen of Norfolk, Va.; stepmother, Jodi Drader of Amity; grandparents, Wendell Lane and Grace Lane of Hebo, Verna Beaman of Hebo, Mike Derrick Sr. of Tillamook and Sam Coulston of Amity; brothers and sisters, Jaime Lane of Portland, Christine Morgan and husband, Joe, of LaPine, Anthony Lane of St. Helens, Travis Lane of Pacific City, Stephanie Drake of St. Helens, and Shawn Drake, currently serving with the U.S. Marine Corps; step-brothers and step-sisters, Jenn Spencer of Pittsburgh, Penn., Mark Jenema and wife, Destiny, of Tillamook, Louie Loper of Tigard, Joni Marie Matt and husband, Scott, of San Francisco, Calif., Samantha Jenema of Tillamook; by numerous uncles and aunts, and nieces and nephews; and, not to be forgotten, his beloved cat Muffitt.

A funeral service was held Feb. 5 at Life Change Christian Fellowship in Tillamook, after which he was laid to rest at Nestucca Community Cemetery in Hebo.

Roger's family would be grateful for contributions in his name to the Ronald McDonald House, which may be made care of Waud's Funeral Home.
