Carol Ann Whitlock Lane, 43, Lafayette, died Jan 1, 1989 in St. Elizabeth Hospital where she had been a patient four days; she had been in ill health two years. Born March 2, 1945 in Lafayette; she graduated in 1962 from East Tipp High School. While in high school, she played the accordion in the band and enjoyed watching her brother play basketball. For a few years after high school, she worked at Lischke's Drug Store on Schuyler Ave, and at Howard Johnson's as a waitress. After her children were born, she devoted her time to them. She was David's greatest fan when he played football at Tipton High School, she was very proud because her youngest, Melissa, was a member of the band and played basketball at school; she also treasured a shelf that Bradley made for her in shop class. The children summed up their feelings about their mother's early death by saying, "She was a mother that held our hands for a while and will hold our hearts forever". Mrs. Lane was a member of Pentecostal Church of God. Surviving are a daughter, Melissa Lane, at home; two sons, Bradley Lane of Lafayette and David Lane, at home; and one brother, Rev.
