Joe Harley Landon, age 80, of West Fork, Ark., died in the loving hands of his children, Tuesday, May 27, 2014 in West Fork. He was born February 14, 1934 in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Clarence Harley and Emily Griffith Landon.

He was preceded in death in 2006 by his wife of 50 years, Charlotte Landon and a son, Rick Landon. He was in the Army Special Forces, retiring after 24 years as a first sergeant. He was a long time member of the VFW Post 2722 in West Fork, and Renault Remote Control Airfield.

He is survived by three daughters, Shelly Speight and her husband Stan of Wickes, Arkansas, Linda Landon and her partner Lori Burnette of Corinth, Texas and Jody Redmon and her husband Gayle of West Fork, Arkansas; two sons, Stan Landon and his wife Candi of West Fork, Arkansas and Don Landon and his wife Teresa of West Fork, Arkansas; thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Fayetteville National Cemetery, Fayetteville, Arkansas, under the direction of Moore's Chapel. Graveside service in Topeka, Kansas will be 12:30 pm Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery under the direction of Penwell-Gabel Midtown Chapel. Memorials may be made to Fayetteville National Cemetery, 700 Government Ave., Fayetteville, Arkansas 72701 or to the Veterans Administration Medical Center Palliative Care Unit, 1125 North College, Fayetteville, Arkansas 72703.
