Anna Jones, daughter of William and Idella Grant Landiss, was born near Grantsburg on August 11, 1870, and died February 22, 1953 at the age of 82 years.
She was survived by two son, Raymond F. Jones, of Temple, and Russell L. Jones, of Terre Haute; a daughter, Allison Longess, of Pendleton; a brother, Charles Landis, of English; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Evan Jones, ten years previously; also a son, Charles Jones, who was killed in World War I; four sisters, Sallie Smith, Elizabeth Lambdin, Grace Landiss and Dora Horn.
She joined the United Brethren Church when a young girl. Later there being no church of her faith in the community, she placed her membership in the Methodist Church at Temple, and remained there until the end.
Although having been in ill health for some time, she always found pleasure in doing what she could to make her children happy.
She lived with her son Ray, since the death of her husband. He has been with her constantly except the three years he spent in the Navy during World War I.
Funeral services were held Friday February 25, 1953 at the Tucker Funeral Home in English, with Kenneth Eade in charge. Burial was in the Temple Cemetery.
