NEIL LANDERS IS DEAD OF INJURIES
Twelve year old boy Was Run Over when He Darted in Front of an Auto
Neil Landers, 12 years old son of Mrs. Maud Landers, who resides on North Twentieth street and is employed at Church's Café on South Main Street, was run over by an automobile at the northeast corner of the plaza at 7:30 o'clock Tuesday night and died of his injuries a few hours later. Bystanders who were eyewitnesses to the accident stated that no blame attached to the driver.
The little boy was running west along Lamar Avenue in front of Burton-Peels store and was laughing and looking back at another boy who was chasing him. Just as he got even with curb he turned south to cross over to the Palace drug store.
The driver of the auto was coming in the same direction that the boy was running, and on account of the West Paris jitney bus coming up and making a turn he had to drive slow to keep from running against it.
Not withstanding he was going to slow the little boy darting abruptly into the street was struck and both wheels ran over his chest, crushing it in.
Chas Turner, who was in the drug store ran out in the street and picked him up, unconscious and carried him inside.
Randolph Osburn was also in the drug store and had a car in which they placed the boy and carried him with all speed to the sanitarium where he died about midnight.
