REDONDO BEACH, Calif. - Stanley E. Land, 73, a native of Neosho, Mo., died Thursday, July 15, 2004, at his son's home in Redondo Beach, Calif.
He was born April 14, 1931, in Neosho, Mo., to Elvin and Irene Land and was a stepson of Florence Land and Winifred Land.
He was in his 50th year of service in the ministry. He completed his graduate study as a Disciples of Christ minister at Brite Divinity School (TCU) in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1958 and began his ministry that year in Springfield, Mo. He then served two years (1960-1962) in Republic, Mo., seven years (1962-1968) in Afton, Mo., 18 years (1968-1985) in Dexter, Mo., and 10 years (1985-1995) in Parsons. In 1995 he retired to Neosho but continued to pastor at South Joplin Christian Church and Neosho First Presbyterian Church.
He married Lowenn Cook on Aug. 23, 1956, in DuQuoin, Ill. She survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Doug Land and his wife, Jamie, of Kansas City, Mo., Chris Land of Studio City, Calif., and Kent Land and his wife, Merlan, of Redondo Beach, Calif.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marilyn Walker and Patricia Land.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at First Christian Church in Neosho, Mo., with the Revs. Bill Masters, Craig Kirby-Grove and Gene Akeman officiating.
