Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arangements.
Mr. Lamont died peacefully at his home following a lengthly illness Thursday, June 24, 2010. He was born Feb. 28, 1941 on Stouts Mountain. Lamont graduated from Hanceville High School and received his associate's degree in criminal justice from Wallace Community College in Cullman. He worked for the State of Alabama for 25 years, first as radio operator, then as a trooper on the road. Later promoted to corporal, he worked in the Implied Consent Unit for several years before being named as a body guard to the governor and receiving his promotion to sergeant. He retired in 1989.
An avid NASCAR and University of Alabama football fan, Lamont-as he was known to all-was dedicated to his family and his yard, usually in that order. He was greatly loved and admired, and will be greatly missed.
Lamont, a retired Alabama State Trooper sergeant, is survived by his wife of nearly 47 years, Caila Day Lamont; 3 living children, Kristi Lamont Ellis (Ben), Brett Loran Lamont and Sherri Lamont Miller (Patrick); 2 grandchildren, Baron Pearce Miller and Maximillian Grey Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Lewis and Marie Baker Lamont; brother, James Alan Lamont; infant son, Scott Alan Lamont.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cullman Caring for Kids.
