Ruby Lee Cummings-Atkinson passed from this life into the waiting arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 27, 2006. Ruby Lee Lambert was born June 23, 1918 in Thalia, Foard County, Texas. She graduated from Five-in-One High School in 1936 and from beauty college in El Paso in 1943.
She lived in Pecos, Texas from 1941 until 1965 where she owned Ruby Lee's Beauty Salon. In 1965 she moved to Dallas to care for her mother. She later moved to Austin where she was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church of Round Rock.
Ruby Lee was preceded in death by an infant son, James William Spotts II, her husband James William Spotts, Jr. in 1969 and husband James Cummings in 1982, parents, Thomas Frances Lambert and Mary Viola Tipps Lambert, and five brothers and sisters.
She is survived by husband Rufus D. Atkinson and daughter and son-in-law Dr. William Kenneth Gray and Mary Spotts Gray of Buchanan Dam, Texas. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Sabrina DeLisle of Austin, Ken Gray II of Round Rock and Diane Parnham of Austin, ten great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren and one step-son, Fred Atkinson and step-granddaughter Annie of Seattle, Washington. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She was always first to help anyone in need.
Graveside services were Wednesday afternoon, March 29, 2006, at the Crowell Cemetary in Crowell, Texas. A memorial service was held on Friday, March 31, 2006 at the Granite Mountain Church in Marble Falls, Texas.
