Eva Fern Whitby Lamb passed away August 4, 2012. She was born January 28, 1922 in Alpine, Utah to Oscar Alfred and Viola Perenial Little Whitby, the seventh child in a family of five daughters and three sons. Shortly after her birth she moved to Carey, Idaho where she lived until she was 15 years old. In 1937 the family moved to Logan, Utah, where she graduated from Logan High School.
She married Grant Ronald Lamb on June 26, 1941 in the Logan LDS Temple. They lived in Albion, Nebraska until World War II started, then returned to Logan, Utah while her husband was in the Navy for three years. They were the parents of four children when they moved to Spanish Fork, Utah in 1956. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 23, 2001.
As a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served as Primary President and Chorister, Relief Society Counselor, Teacher, Singing Mothers Chorister and Choir Leader. She served in the Provo Temple in several leadership positions for many years. In 1984 she was called with her husband as missionaries to the Swiss Temple, and later as Temple Missionary Coordinators for the LDS Church.
An active member of The Daughters of Utah Pioneers, she served as Historian in the Handcart Camp at the Spanish Fork Museum. Her hobbies were gardening, crocheting, and quilting, making many articles for her children and grandchildren. She loved to do research on her family history and collected many names on her family lines.
Survivors include her children, Keith (Zona) Lamb of Lakewood, CO; Myrna (Lynn) Tolley of Salem, UT; David (Patti) Lamb of Sandy, UT; Susan Locke of Riverton, UT; and 32 grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers John (Arva) Whitby of Salt Lake City, UT, and Paul (Bobbie) Whitby of San Diego, CA. Eva was preceded in death by an infant son and an infant daughter; sisters, Thelma Kirkland, Althea Hunsaker, Loretta Rees, Clara Whitby and a brother, Harold Whitby.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Spanish Fork 8th Ward Chapel, 1006 East 200 South, Spanish Fork, Utah. Family and friends may call on Saturday morning at the church from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
