Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Mr James Basil Lamar Cobb died at the home of his mother, Mrs Lamar Cobb, on Oglethorpe avenue.
The death of Mr Cobb will cause profound sorrow among his many friends. He was taken ill with pneumonia Saturday afternoon and sank rapidly to his death.
Mr Cobb was 57 years old at the time of his death. He was born in Athens, the son of Major anhd Mrs Lamar Cobb. His early youth was spent in the schools of Athens and for a while he was a student in the University of Georgia where he was universally liked by his college mates. He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
He devoted his maturer years to business. He was a long time connected with the Georgian Hotel company of this city and was most highly esteem by hundreds of friends, especially among the travelling men. He was a loyal friend, a loving son and brother, a genial whole-souled man.
He was a member of the Episcopal church and the funeral Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the residence on Oglethorpe avnue will be conducted by Rev A G Richards, assisted by Rev Walter Anthony, pastor of the First Methodist church.
Mr Cobb is survivied by his mother, Mrs Lamar Cobb; his sisters, Mrs E D Sledge and Mrs W C Davis of this city; and his brothers, Messrs Lamar Cobb and Edwin Cobb of Arizona.
