Annie Bransom, 95, of Amarillo, formerly of Big Spring, died on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, in an Amarillo hospice facility. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, December 23, 2011 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with , officiating. Interment will follow at Roscoe Cemetery.
Annie was born July 26, 1916 in Roscoe, Texas to Mack and Lettie Lake. She attended several west Texas schools as a young girl. After completing nursing school she worked as an LVN at Sweetwater Memorial Hospital and the VA Hospital in Big Spring. Annie retired from the VA in 1976.
Annie married Ollie Bransom on January 18th, 1934 in Roscoe. They were married for 62 years. Ollie and Annie were very active members of the American Legion. She held various offices in the American Legion Auxiliary at the local, regional and state level. They were also volunteers at the VA Hospital in Big Spring for many years. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Annie was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Big Spring and Arden Road Baptist Church after moving to Amarillo in 1992.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Oleta Malone, a brother, Edward Lake and a grandson, Kenny Burns.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Violet Wing of Craig Methodist Sagebrush Unit for their loving care of Annie for the last 7 months of her life. They also want to thank the nurses and staff of BSA Hospice for the love and compassion they showed Annie and her family.
Survivors include a daughter, Pat Burns and husband, Joe of Amarillo; grandchildren, Kathy Bailey and husband, Don of Amarillo, Kevin Burns of Waco and Keith Burns and fiancÚ, Leslie of Argyle; five great granddaughters, Stacey Figel, Toni Stheling, Tammy Wilhelm, Chelsea Sparkman, and Emily Burns; four great great grandchildren, Jadan, Kyler, Trayton and Addison; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice 600 N. Tyler Amarillo, Texas 79107 or Arden Road Baptist Church 6701 Arden Road Amarillo, Texas 79119.
