She was born the second child of Lorin Lynn and Anna Ray (Conley) Lake on May 28, 1927, in San Luis Obispo, Calif. She graduated from high school in the top 10 of her class and attended Ricks College on a Seminary scholarship. While attending Ricks College, she met her eternal companion, Ralph Jesse Griffin. They were married on June 12, 1946, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She was actively involved in the church and especially enjoyed the time spent working with the youth. At the time of her death, she was serving as a Cub Scout den mother. She was also actively involved in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and family history work, and enjoyed quilting and gardening. She loved being outdoors and was especially proud of her posterity. Family was very important to her.
In March of 1956, Sarahmay and Ralph began homesteading in Rupert. After her husband retired, they served a full-time mission in Winnipeg, Canada. They later served a five-year mission in the Logan Utah LDS Temple as officiators.
She is survived by her children, J. Ralph (Kathy), Ron (Pam), Rex (Sheri), Ray (Patricia), Rita (Bryan) Moses, Ruth (Juan) Cardenas and Russell (Janilee); 20 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren (with three more on the way).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Jesse Griffin; her infant son, R. Glenn; parents; and siblings, George, James and Lynn "Butch."
Sarahmay's family would like to thank her neighbors, the lunch-bunch and ward family for their love and support.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, at the Heyburn LDS 1st and 2nd Ward Church, 530 Villa Drive in Heyburn, with Bishop Paul Douglass officiating. Burial and grave dedication will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery in Annis, Idaho.
