Mr. Laird was a rat terrier breeder, retired from R. J. Reynolds an ordained minister and a veteran of the U.S. Marines. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading his Bible. Mr. Laird also enjoyed gardening; giving his neighbors fruit baskets and helping his neighbors bale hay. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Laird.
Survivors include a daughter, Brittany Omega Laird of Mocksville; four stepchildren, Tammy Lyons, Tanya Miller, Tina Lyons and Paul Miller; two grandchildren, Anthony Steven Acosta and Sophia Jane Laird; four siblings, Margaret Leonard, Bobby Laird, Kathy Laird and Debbie Laird; and several nieces and nephews.
