CROUSE - Kimmie L. Black 87, of 5401 Crouse Rd., died February 13, 1997 at Lincoln Regional Medical Center. Funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday at Carpenter's Funeral Home, Cherryville, NC. Burial is at City Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Darrell Bost officiating. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Black was born on February 19, 1908, daughter of the late Allie and Bertha Houser Lackey. She was a retired winder at Carlton Yarn Mill of Cherryville, NC. She belonged to Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Black.
Survivors include her son, Thomas Dean Black of Crouse; brother, R.A. Lackey of Hickory; sister, Vivian Towery of Vale; five grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
Carpenter's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
