WHEELER - Lessie Ann Austin, 83, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Williams, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.

Mrs. Austin was born June 8, 1922, in Arkansas to Joe B. and Jenny Lackey. She married Harold S. "Whiz" Austin on Dec. 10, 1946, in Los Angeles and moved to Wheeler County, where she worked with her husband on the family farm and ranch. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Austin of Gravette, Ark., and Joe Austin of Wheeler; a daughter, Charlotte Brown of San Antonio; four brothers, Wendell Lackey of Coos Bay, Ore., Preston Lackey and Sanford Lackey, both of Jasper, Ark., and Wayne Lackey of Illinois; a sister, Mabel King of Kansas City, Mo.; and six grandsons.

The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
