Charlie Labrador, 90 years, went home to be with the Lord the evening of Thursday, 20 January, 2011, at VacaValley Hospital after years of illness. Charlie was born on 26 July 1920, in San Narciso Zambales, Philippines. He enlisted in the United States Army on 19 February 1941 and retired from active duty in San Francisco, California on 31 May, 1961, with the rank of Major. After retirement, he remained in the United States Civilian Personnel Service. With his active and civilian years combined, he gave 53 years and 9 days to his country.
Charlie was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign War and American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Felicidad of Vacaville, son, Charlie, Jr. of Guam, Charles of Pinole, Joseph of Vacaville and Hercules of Washington; daughters, Elena of Texas, Grace of Reno, Nevada, Mary of New Zealand and Helen of New Jersey. Numerous grandchildren survive.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Vacaville on Monday, 31 January, 2011 at 10:00 AM with Father Matthew officiating. The visitation will be held in Nadeau Family Funeral Home Sunday evening from 2:00 - 5:00 pm with a Rosary as well in the funeral home at 4:00 pm. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow the Funeral Mass at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery Monday morning at 11:30 o'clock am.
