MARTHA L. BOUCHER BURLINGTON — Martha L. Boucher, 85, of Burlington died in Fletcher Allen Health Care on Sept. 18, 2002. She was born in Burlington on Feb. 22, 1917, the daughter of Joseph and Parmelia (Phaneuf) LaRiviere.

Martha was a graduate of Mount St. Mary Academy. She worked as a bookkeeper in the Burlington area for WCAX, Colodny's Supermarket, and Shearer Chevrolet.

She was co-owner with her husband and bookkeeper for the Boucher Funeral Home until her retirement in 1974. Her husband of 30 years, Rene G. Boucher, predeceased her Dec. 2, 1992.

Martha was a lifetime member of St. Joseph parish and a member of the Confraternity of St. Joseph. She loved to cook and for many years donated her homecooked meals to the Burlington Food Shelf. Martha will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor.

She is survived by her brother, J. Edmund LaRiviere of Colchester; her sister and brotherin-law, Theresa and Raymond LaRoche of Burlington; her stepdaughters and their spouses, Arlene and Dr. Frank Pasley of Plymouth, Mich., Burlington, Betsy Couillard of Colchester, and Janice and Michael Rouille of Tucker, Ga; 12 grandchildren, including her special granddaughter, Karen Drewniak and her family; 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, including her special nieces, Pam Ackerson and Carol Speranza and their families; and her special nephew, Philip LaRoche and his family; and great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Martha is also survived by her dear friend and caregiver, Dulcie LaPlante of Burlington.

Martha was predeceased by her sisters and brothers, Eva Burgoyne, Bernadette Nichols, Beatrice Crosby, Irene Belville, Ursula Boucher, Cecile Monroe, Philip LaRiviere, Dr. Joseph LaRiviere, and Annette Kittell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Co-Cathedral.

Interment will follow in New Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Boucher and Pritchard Funeral Home, 85 N. Winooski Ave., today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Co-Cathedral by the Rev. Stephen Hornat .The crucifix was placed on the casket by Martha's sister, Theresa LaRoche. The readings were proclaimed by Martha's nephew, Ray Nichols. Interment followed in New Mount Calvary Cemetery with Father Hornat offering the committal prayers. Bearers were Robert and Philip LaRoche, John Ackerson, and Tony Speranza, nephews, Kark Drewniak, a grandson, and Korey Drewniak, a great-grandson. Arrangements were by Boucher and Pritchard Funeral Directors.
