He was the son of the late Joseph La Plante and Doria Robilliard La Plante; and brother of the late Willard and Maurice La Plante. A native of Red Lake Falls, Minn., who lived in Louisiana for the past 40 years, he was a retired food salesman.
He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and a past member of the Knights of Columbus.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in Okinawa.
He is survived by his wife, Mary H. La Plante of Mandeville; a daughter, Stephanie La Plante Henson of Mandeville; two granddaughters, Mary Caroline Henson and Katherine Elizabeth Henson, both of Mandeville; and two sisters, Velina Grandbois of Red Lake Falls and Merle Bergeman of St. Paul, Minn.
