Richard ("Dick") A. LaBarre, 62, well-known resident of Rome RR3, Rome Township, Pa., passed away Monday evening, Nov. 2, 2009, at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pa. Dick was born May 16, 1947, in Sayre, Pa., the son of M. Jane Joyce LaBarre and the late Charles F. LaBarre Sr. He was a graduate of Northeast Bradford High School Class of 1965. Dick dedicated his life to farming on the Jewell Hill Century Farm in Rome and also served as a bus driver for the Northeast Bradford School District for more than 40 years. He was also employed by Rome Township for many years. Dick loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren, and he enjoyed watching NASCAR racing.

He is survived by: his children, Susan Rogers and her husband Chad Rogers of Nichols, N.Y., Jill Vough and her husband David Vough of Rome RR3, and Kasey LaBarre and his wife Laurie LaBarre of Rome; his mother, M. Jane LaBarre of Rome RR3; grandchildren, Hillary Rogers, Troy Rogers, Alan Vough and Erika Vough; siblings, Charles F. LaBarre Jr. and his wife Arlene LaBarre of Rome RR3, J. David LaBarre and his wife Claudia LaBarre of Rome RR2, Rosanne Felter and her husband Keith Felter of Rome RR3, Linda Hosley and her husband Gary Hosley of Rome RR3, and Sandra Vaughan and her husband Elwood Vaughan of Rome RR3; a special uncle and aunt, Perl and Lillian Shores of Ghent; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by: his father, Charles F. "Frank" LaBarre Sr. on May 30, 1990; and by his nephews, David and Michael LaBarre in 1979.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pa. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be directed to Hezekiah's Hands in care of the First Presbyterian Church, 5 Court St., Towanda, PA 18848 in Richard A. LaBarre's memory.
