Joycelyn Jean Chase aged 79 years and recently of Grand Rapids passed suddenly on May 27, 2009.
Joy as she was familiarly known by family and friends was born January 25, 1930 in Lowell, the daughter of Myron a. and Gladys E. (Callier) Kyser.
Growing up in Boston Twp.. She was a great granddaughter of one of Berlin Twp's earliest pioneer families. Joy went on the graduate from Lowell High School in 1948. She soon joined the U.S.A.F during the Korean conflict where she later met and married Richard T. Chase of Maine, also serving in the U.S.A.F. Their marriage was performed at Langley Field, VA. December 4, 1953.
From this union three sons were born, all of whom survive. Terry of Ca., Kim and wife Sue of Lowell, and Scott and wife Maureen of Ca.
Also to mourn their loss is her loving husband of 56 years. Her sisters Toni Haller of Lowell and preceding her in death Madeline Vickery Speckin in 2001. Five grandchildren and two great grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. and Mrs. Chase following their enlistments pursued their happiness in Saranac and Ionia prior to moving to California. Where they lived until their retirement and return to Michigan.
With due accords to her wishes cremation has taken place.
Family and friends are all encouraged to meet with us at Lake Funeral Home in Saranac, Michigan between 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., May 31, 2009 with a memorial service set at 11:00 a.m. June 1, 2009 . Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating.
Her memory we shall always keep.
Cremated, Location of ashes is unknown.
