Services for Velma Kyle Dodd, age 99, of Elkhart will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday at the First United Methodist Church of Elkhart with Rev. Lynn Willhite officiating. Burial will follow in Pilgrim Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster. Mrs. Dodd died Friday, Sep. 18, 2009, at Palestine Regional Medical Center. She was born June 7, 1910 near Elkhart, Texas to TJM "Lone" Kyle and Gertrude Quarles Kyle. Mrs. Dodd was a teacher in Elkhart Schools for 37 years and retired in 1972. She was a lifelong Methodist and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elkhart. Mrs. Dodd was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, B.L. Dodd; and eleven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son B.K. Dodd; grandson, Breck Dodd and wife Stacy; granddaughter, Leslie Storms and husband Dr. Duncan Ramsey; two great grandchildren; brother, Tom Kyle; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Billy Howard, Chris Howard, Don Hughes, Don Langston, Billy Jack Wright, and John Costilow. Condolence calls will be received from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.
