From obituary in The Birmingham News, Thursday, November 14, 1963:
Last rites will be held for Mrs. Nannie F. Kyle, 87, at 2 p.m. Friday in Elmwood Chapel, with burial in Elmwood. Her grandson, the Rev. Glenn. E. Slye, will officiate.
Mrs. Kyle died Wednesday at her home, 1638 7th. Avenue West.
A native of Cartersville, Ga., Mrs. Kyle lived in Birmingham since 1912. She and her husband, James A. Kyle, celebrated their 67th. wedding anniversary Feb. 2 this year. Mrs. Kyle was a member of the Ensley Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Ernest Slye and Mrs. Harry Slagle, both of Birmingham; a brother, Ernest Rouse of Camden; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Openshaw of Houston, Tex., and Mrs. Carolyn Matthews of San Jacinto, Calif.; seven grandsons; one granddaughter; 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
