Ona and Orlie's marriage was short-lived, as Orlie died on August 17, 1901, from injuries he received working in the Himrod coal mine.
Ona and Orlie were the parents of two children: Effie and Everett. Everett was born after Orlie's death.
Ona next married Melvin Howard, on September 29, 1905. Ona and Melvin were the parents of two children: Ray and Roy.
