Obituary for John Arnold Kuri
John Arnold Kuri, age 81 of the Town of Belvidere, Buffalo County, Wisconsin passed away March 30, 2014 at St. Anne's Extended Health Care in Winona, MN. John was born on June 5, 1932 to George and Grace (Paap) Kuri in Milwaukee, WI. John attended Blaine Grade School and Soleman Juneau High School in Milwaukee. He came to live in Buffalo County in 1962 where he owned and operated the Valley Tavern in Waumandee, WI. From 1965 to 1968, John was also one of the owners of the Valley Raceway. He enjoyed many years racing stock cars for various people. John's long time career was at the Cochrane-Fountain City School, driving bus and as the Maintenance Supervisor for 28 years until his retirement in 1996. John spent many Saturdays also working at Elmer's Auto. On October 25, 1975, John married the love of his life, Julie Engfer in Alma, WI. His favorite past times were deer and turkey hunting, helping out on family's farms, cutting wood, and taking rides to get ice cream. John was a faithful parishioner and a member of the Dr. Martin Luther Church Council.
He will be forever in the hearts of his wife Julie, his sons Daniel(Diana) Kuri of Waumandee, WI and Dennis(LaVonne)Kuri of Galesville, WI; his grandchildren Kelly(Robin) Wood, Amy(Brian) Heuer, Tina(Corey) Fabian, Dayne Kuri, and Jesse Kuri; nine great grandchildren; his sister Lynda(Gary) Schumacher of Altura, MN; and Henry the cat.
John was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Helen Carey, Lorayne Marty, Audrey Sikorski, and Kenneth Kuri. A visitation will be at Talbot Family Funeral Homes in Cochrane on Wednesday April 2 at 4:00PM to 8:00PM. A funeral service will be at Dr. Martin Luther Church in Buffalo City on Thursday April 3 at 11:00AM with an hour of visitation prior. Pastor Mark Wilde will officiate. Burial will follow at Yaeger Valley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Glenn Foegen, Tom George, Elmer Duellman, Ben Thompson, Roger Bollinger, and Joe Malchaski.
