Mary E. Butt, of Hanover, departed this life September 1, 2008.

She was the daughter of the late Paul W. and Mary F. (Gebhart) Kuhn.

Mary was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Oxford. She retired from Doubleday Books after 27 years of service as a collator and enjoyed refinishing furniture, snowmobiling, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was the wife of Earl R. "Sarge" Butt and surviving, in addition to him, are a son, Nicholas P. Garrett of Hanover; a daughter, Luann R. Gebhart and husband, Stephen of Hanover; three grandsons, Beau Gebhart of New Oxford, and Marcus Garrett and Ben Garrett, both of Hanover; three granddaughters, Heather Clabaugh of Abbottstown, Kellie Wivell and husband, Chris of Spring Grove, and Bethann Gebhart of Marysville; a great-granddaughter, Anna Toomey, and a great-grandson, Alex Clabaugh, both of Abbottstown; and a sister, Felicitas R. "Pete" Reese of New Oxford.

She was predeceased by three sisters, Lillian R. Smith, Ruth A. Keeney, and Sylvia M. Neiman; and two brothers, John and Richard Kuhn.
