Submitter's note: Note of interest (WK-book, page 550) Says that John's Widow, Catharine (Eckenroth 2) Kuhn, survived him, John Kuhn, by almost 8 years, living in 1810 with her son George near Oxford, Adams County, and died on 29, May 1815 in Mt. Pleasant Township, Adams County. She was also buried in Conewago Cemetery (CR 1980, page 21).

On 18, January 1767, at the age of 21, Catharine Eckenroth (2) married John Kuhn in Christian Henrich's house at Spitzenberg Hill AKA: Asperum Collem before Reverend John Baptist De Ritter. Witnesses at the wedding were Christian Henrich, Jr. and his fiancee, Magdalen Bevertz; Adam Stahl and Mary Elizabeth Eckenroth (2) (The younger) unmarried sister of Catharine. After their marriage in January 1767, John and Catherine Kuhn resided for the next 4 or 5 years in the Cedar Creek area of Northampton County were their first two children were born and baptized in 1769 and 1771. Sometime between 1771 and late 1772 they moved to a 125 acre farm in Greenwich Township, Berks County Probably near Catharine's brother-in-law Conrad Bevertz. Here their next for children were born and baptized at Spitzenberg Hill. (Tax Records- PA. Archives, Series 3, Volume 18, pages 357 and 485. (WK-book, page 549)

Henry Kuhn was baptized January 17, 1769 in his parents house near Cedar Creek (Macungie Township, Northampton County, PA.). Sponsors were: Henry Kuhn (probably brother of his father). (GR, page 36; "Records", Volume 3, page 313). Between February 1793 and January 1795 in Adams County probably at Conewago Chapel, Henry married Catharine (Litzinger), born 29 March 1769, daughter of Leonard and Magdalen (Kupser) Litzinger. (GR, page37; "Records", Volume 3, page 314). As of the 1810 Census they had 8 children (6 boys and 2 girls), all of whom are indentified as follows: John Kuhn brn. 2 October 1795; Henry Kuhn brn. 7 February 1797; Leonard Kuhn brn. 6 June 1800; Catharine Kuhn brn. 18 May 1802; Jacob Kuhn brn. 20 October 1803; Joseph Kuhn brn. 23 November 1805; Elizabeth Kuhn brn. 12 October 1807; Unnnamed son, ca 1809. Henry was living on the date his mother made her will. I have no data revealing his date or place of death. (WK-book, page 553)

2. John Kuhn Brn. Jan.-March, 1771 Cedar Creek Northampton Co., PA died July 29, 1801 Mt. Pleasant Adam Co., PA.
John Kuhn was baptized early in case of necessity, ceremonies being supplied later (March 1771) by the missionary priest at John Kuhn's house (his father) near Cedar Creek (Macungie Township, Northampton County, PA.). His sponsors were cousins, Joseph Eckenroth (2, Henry Eckenroth 1 of Lancaster County PA. and Elizabeth (surname not given). (GR, page 42; "Records", Volume 3, page 319). The circumstances at his birth indicate he may not have been a healthy man. He died unmarried at age 30 years in Adams County on 29 July 1801 and was buried in Conewago Cemetery (CR 1980, page 7). 3. Jacob James Kuhn Brn. before 15 Oct 1772 Greenwich Berks Co., PA died March 31, 1825 Mt. Pleasant Adams Co., PA. Married Magalen Haln on March 16, 1799 Conewago Adams Co, PA. Jacob James Kuhn was baptized on 15 October 1772 in Christian Henrich's House AKA: Asperum Collem (Spitzenberg Hill). His sponsors were Jacob/James Kuhn, the father's brother and Elizabeth Eckenroth, Jr. (the mother's sister). (GR, page 47; "Records", Volume 3, page 324). AS indicated in the text, I believe Jacob was the first of John's children to be born in Berks County. On 26 March 1799, Jacob Kuh married Magdalen Kaln/Hahn/Haune in Conewago Chapel, Adam County (CR 1980, page M-34). Jacob died on 31 March 1825 and was buried in the Conewago Cemetery in April (CR 1980, page 20). His will, probated on 23 Decemeber 1828, Executors Peter Brichner and John Faller, named his ten children, all of whom, with the exception of Mary, were recorded in the Conewago Baptismal Registers: Catharine Kuhn brn. 22 December 1799; Theresa Kuhn brn. 2 November 1801; Margaret Kuhn brn. 22 October 1803; Eva Kuhn brn. 10 March 1805; Mary Kuhn brn. Joseph Kuhn was baptized on 15 January 1775 in Christian Henrich's Mass House at Asperum Collem (Spitzenberg Hill). His sponsors were Henry Kuhn (probably father's brother) and Mary Elizabeth Eckenroth (the mother's sister). The next day at the same place these sponsors were also sponsors for John and Catharine's niece, Mary Elizabeth Eckenroth, duaghter of Henry and Anna Barbara (Kuhn) Eckenroth 2 (John 1). On or before March 1800, Joseph Kuhn married Catharine Brieghner. They lived in Berlin, Reading Township, Adams County were the were listed in the 1810 Census with their first three children, each of whom were recorded in the Conewago Baptismal Register. Joseph's will written on 13 January 1821 (Book and page number not copied) listed three additional children. He had seven children as follows: Jacob/James Kuhn brn. 22 December 1800; Anna Mary/Polly Kuhn brn. 11 March 1804; Eliabeth Kuhn brn. 31 August 1806; John B. Kuhn brn. 16 November 1808; Emmanuel Kuhn brn 1809; Samuel Kuhn brn. 17 January 1813; and Sarah Kuhn who died 25 Decemeber 1844. (Conewago Registers; Reily, "Collections", Volume VII, pages 53 and 252). His wife Catharine, born 24 February 1779, died 20 June 1853 ("Founding Catholic Families of Conewago", Barbara Brady O'Keefe, January 1986, page 12). (WK-book, page 554)

Catharine Kuhn was baptized on 16 March 1777 in Christian Henrich's Mass House at Asperum Collem (Spitzenberg Hill). Her sponsors were John Fuss and Catharine Eckenroth (12 year old niece of John and Catharine, daughter of Henry and Anna Barbara (Kuhn) Eckenroth 2). (GR, page 62; "Records", Volume 3, page 339). I believe Catharine died before 1790 since she was not listed in the 1790 Census. (WK-book, page 554)

6. Anna Margaret Kuhn Brn. February 21, 1777 Greenwich Berks Co., PA died February 7, 1826 Adams Co., PA. Married Peter Briegner October 21, 1798 Conewago Township Adam Co., PA. Anna Margaret Kuhn was baptiized15 March 1778 in Christian Henrich's Mass House at Asperum Collem (Spitzenberg Hill). Her sponsors were Anna Margaret Eckenroth, Grandmother of the child and George Eckenroth (The child's uncle). (GR, page 66; "Records", Volume 3, page 343). On 21 October 1798 Anna Margaret Kuhn married Peter Briegner (CR 1980, page M-7). They lived near Oxford in Oxford Township and had the following children: Jacob brn. 24 February 1800; Catharine brn. 6 May 1802; Teresa brn. 17 October 1805; Henry brn. 1 April 1808; John Evangelista brn. 8 February 1810; Rachel and Peter brn. 15 April 1818. 7. George Kuhn Brn. March 11 1780 Greenwich Berks Co., PA.
died November 17, 1825 Adams Co., PA. Married Susanna Felix around 1801 Adams Co., PA. George Kuhn was baptized on 30 April 1780 at Mathias Brueck's House (John's brother-in-law) at Ceder Creek (Whitehall Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania). His sponsors were Henry Kuhn (John's brother) and his wife Margaret (Wider). (GR, page 75; "Records", Volume 3, page 352). About 1801, George married Susanna Felix. They had at least eight children, seven of whom appear in the Conewago Baptismal Registers, and three of whom entered the religious life. These children were: Catharine Kuhn(Sister Ameliana of Georgetown) brn. 18 May 1802; Eva Kuhn (Sister Tharsilla) brn 29 July 1804; George Kuhn (Brother in Society of Jesus) brn. 4 March 1807; John Evangelista brn. 17 March 1809; Susanna Kuhn brn. 4 July 1812; Simon Kuhn brn. 6 August 1814; Anthony Kuhn brn. 14 July 1816; and Henry Kuhn brn. 18 January 1818. Henry lived until 1905 and it was from him that John Timon Reily obtained substantial data on the Kuhn family for his "Collections", Volume 5, page 38, 51, and 275; and Volume 2, page 445. George Kuhn 4 died on 17 November 1825 and was buried at Conewago (CR 1980, page 20). (WK-book, page 554)

8. Christian Kuhn Brn. around 1781-1790 Greenwich Berks Co., PA. Married Catharine Kohl Feb 5, 1809-7 Conewago Adams Co., PA. Christian Kuhn birth and baptism were not recorded in the extant Goshenhoppen Registers indicateing that he may have been born and baptized during the period 1785-1787, or after the family had moved to York County, PA. but before the 1790 Census. On 5 February 1809 he married Catharine (Kohl) brn. about 1790, probably the daughter of George and Magdalena (Berninger) Kohl. As of 1823/5 they had eight children including a set of twins all recorded in the Conewago Baptismal Registers. About 1823/5 they allegedly moved to York, York County, PA. Catharine (Kohl) Kuhn died, age 42 years, on 19 February 1832 and was buried in the Conewago Cemetery (CR 1980, page 19). Christian Kuhn married a second time on 12 February 1833 Magdalen (Lupp/Lipp) (CR 1980, page M34). I have no record of the death date or place of Christian nor of any children by his second marriage. The eight recorded children by his first wife were: John Kuhn brn. 20 December 1809; Henry Kuhn (twin) brn. 11 June 1811; David Kuhn (twin) brn. 11 June 1811; Elizabeth Kuhn brn. 5 February 1813; Catharine Kuhn brn. 6 December 1814; Mary Anne Kuhn brn. 1 September 1816; Andrew Kuhn brn. 1 June 1818; and, Mary Kuhn brn. 1 January 1823. 9. Eva Kuhn Brn 1781-1790 Greenwich Berks Co., PA died on /before August 23, 1832. Married John Faller/Foller on May 8th, 1808 Conewago Adams Co., PA. Eva Kuhn baptism and birth, like Christian's, were note recorded in the extant Goshenhoppen Registers indicating that she may have been born and baptized during the period 1785-1787 or after the family moved to York County, PA. but before the 1790 Census. On 8 May 1808, Eva Kuhn married John Follar/Faller brn 2 June 1779, son of Adam and Maria (Bievenauer) Faller (CR 1980, page M-17). Their home was located on the east side of the road betwen Whitehall and Gettysburg. John Faller died aged 49 Years, 9 Months, 14 Days on 16 March 1829, and his will was probated on 21 March 1829, Peter Smith, Executor (Adams County Will File #1478). On 23 August 1832, Peter Smith received Letters of Administration for both Peter Foller and his wife Eva (Probate File #1689 and 1690) indicating that Eva had died by that date possibly on 29 September 1831. (CR 1980, page 10; "Collections", Volume 5, page 55-56, and 611). Guardians for their minor children were, Peter Smith, Charles Smith, Philip Fleshman, and Joseph Sneeringer (Adams County Probate Records, 23 August 1832, Book and page numbers not copied). John and Eva (Kuhn) Faller had eleven children recorded in the Conewago Registers: Anthony brn. 1 February 1809; Catharine brn. 25 June 1810; Mary brn. 24 February 1812; Henry brn. 22 October 1813; Francis brn. 12 August 1815; Sarah brn. 4 August 1817; Anne brn. 14 July1819; Jacob brn. 9 November 1820; Margaret brn. 21 November 1824; Peter brn. 8 August 1822; and, Joseph brn. 3 July 1828.

10. Teresa Kuhn 1781-1790 Greenwich Berks Co., PA. Married Joseph Mayer/Maijer February 1, 1807 Conewago Adams Co., PA. Therese/Teresa Kuhn birth and baptism were note recorded in the extant Goshenhoppen Registers, indicating that she may have been born and baptized during the period 1785-1787, or after the family moved to York County, PA. but before the 1790 Census. On 1 February 1807, Theresa married Joseph Mayer; Witnesses were: her father, John and her brother Henry. (CR 1980, page M-42). Seven Months later, on 11 September 1807 her father, John Kuhn 3 died. By October 1825, she and Joseph Mayer had at least five children recorded in the Conewago Baptismal Registers: John Mayer brn. 12 May 1811; David Mayer brn. 26 July 1816; Mary Anne Mayer brn. 18 March 1819; John Mayer (again), brn. 22 January 1822; and Elizabeth Mayer brn. 9 October 1825. 7. George Kuhn Brn. March 11 1780 Greenwich Berks Co., PA.
died November 17, 1825 Adams Co., PA. Married Susanna Felix around 1801 Adams Co., PA. George Kuhn was baptized on 30 April 1780 at Mathias Brueck's House (John's brother-in-law) at Ceder Creek (Whitehall Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania). His sponsors were Henry Kuhn (John's brother) and his wife Margaret (Wider). (GR, page 75; "Records", Volume 3, page 352). About 1801, George married Susanna Felix. They had at least eight children, seven of whom appear in the Conewago Baptismal Registers, and three of whom entered the religious life. These children were: Catharine Kuhn(Sister Ameliana of Georgetown) brn. 18 May 1802; Eva Kuhn (Sister Tharsilla) brn 29 July 1804; George Kuhn (Brother in Society of Jesus) brn. 4 March 1807; John Evangelista brn. 17 March 1809; Susanna Kuhn brn. 4 July 1812; Simon Kuhn brn. 6 August 1814; Anthony Kuhn brn. 14 July 1816; and Henry Kuhn brn. 18 January 1818. Henry lived until 1905 and it was from him that John Timon Reily obtained substantial data on the Kuhn family for his "Collections", Volume 5, page 38, 51, and 275; and Volume 2, page 445. George Kuhn 4 died on 17 November 1825 and was buried at Conewago (CR 1980, page 20). (WK-book, page 554)

8. Christian Kuhn Brn. around 1781-1790 Greenwich Berks Co., PA. Married Catharine Kohl Feb 5, 1809-7 Conewago Adams Co., PA. Christian Kuhn birth and baptism were not recorded in the extant Goshenhoppen Registers indicateing that he may have been born and baptized during the period 1785-1787, or after the family had moved to York County, PA. but before the 1790 Census. On 5 February 1809 he married Catharine (Kohl) brn. about 1790, probably the daughter of George and Magdalena (Berninger) Kohl. As of 1823/5 they had eight children including a set of twins all recorded in the Conewago Baptismal Registers. About 1823/5 they allegedly moved to York, York County, PA. Catharine (Kohl) Kuhn died, age 42 years, on 19 February 1832 and was buried in the Conewago Cemetery (CR 1980, page 19). Christian Kuhn married a second time on 12 February 1833 Magdalen (Lupp/Lipp) (CR 1980, page M34). I have no record of the death date or place of Christian nor of any children by his second marriage. The eight recorded children by his first wife were: John Kuhn brn. 20 December 1809; Henry Kuhn (twin) brn. 11 June 1811; David Kuhn (twin) brn. 11 June 1811; Elizabeth Kuhn brn. 5 February 1813; Catharine Kuhn brn. 6 December 1814; Mary Anne Kuhn brn. 1 September 1816; Andrew Kuhn brn. 1 June 1818; and, Mary Kuhn brn. 1 January 1823. 9. Eva Kuhn Brn 1781-1790 Greenwich Berks Co., PA died on /before August 23, 1832. Married John Faller/Foller on May 8th, 1808 Conewago Adams Co., PA. Eva Kuhn baptism and birth, like Christian's, were note recorded in the extant Goshenhoppen Registers indicating that she may have been born and baptized during the period 1785-1787 or after the family moved to York County, PA. but before the 1790 Census. On 8 May 1808, Eva Kuhn married John Follar/Faller brn 2 June 1779, son of Adam and Maria (Bievenauer) Faller (CR 1980, page M-17). Their home was located on the east side of the road betwen Whitehall and Gettysburg. John Faller died aged 49 Years, 9 Months, 14 Days on 16 March 1829, and his will was probated on 21 March 1829, Peter Smith, Executor (Adams County Will File #1478). On 23 August 1832, Peter Smith received Letters of Administration for both Peter Foller and his wife Eva (Probate File #1689 and 1690) indicating that Eva had died by that date possibly on 29 September 1831. (CR 1980, page 10; "Collections", Volume 5, page 55-56, and 611). Guardians for their minor children were, Peter Smith, Charles Smith, Philip Fleshman, and Joseph Sneeringer (Adams County Probate Records, 23 August 1832, Book and page numbers not copied). John and Eva (Kuhn) Faller had eleven children recorded in the Conewago Registers: Anthony brn. 1 February 1809; Catharine brn. 25 June 1810; Mary brn. 24 February 1812; Henry brn. 22 October 1813; Francis brn. 12 August 1815; Sarah brn. 4 August 1817; Anne brn. 14 July1819; Jacob brn. 9 November 1820; Margaret brn. 21 November 1824; Peter brn. 8 August 1822; and, Joseph brn. 3 July 1828.

10. Teresa Kuhn 1781-1790 Greenwich Berks Co., PA. Married Joseph Mayer/Maijer February 1, 1807 Conewago Adams Co., PA. Therese/Teresa Kuhn birth and baptism were note recorded in the extant Goshenhoppen Registers, indicating that she may have been born and baptized during the period 1785-1787, or after the family moved to York County, PA. but before the 1790 Census. On 1 February 1807, Theresa married Joseph Mayer; Witnesses were: her father, John and her brother Henry. (CR 1980, page M-42). Seven Months later, on 11 September 1807 her father, John Kuhn 3 died. By October 1825, she and Joseph Mayer had at least five children recorded in the Conewago Baptismal Registers: John Mayer brn. 12 May 1811; David Mayer brn. 26 July 1816; Mary Anne Mayer brn. 18 March 1819; John Mayer (again), brn. 22 January 1822; and Elizabeth Mayer brn. 9 October 1825. This info conflicts 1 Day with the info that is found in the (WK-book, page 552) on the children of John Kuhn and Catharine (Eckenroth) Kuhn

Visited by Father Theodore Schneider in Records on November 17th 1746 (In John Eckroth's House).
Please note: This suggest that it was a baptisim of Catherina Eckroth at her parents or relatives house that day.
