Wayne Krutsinger, age 77, of Flora, died at his residence, at 3:18 a.m., Thursday, December 29, 2011.

He was born July 20, 1934 in Louisville, IL. His parents were Art & Stella Maude (Owens) Krutsinger. Wayne's mother was a full blooded Black Foot Indian. He was very proud of his Native American Heritage.

In his younger years he enjoyed working as a roughneck and later became a self-employed carpenter. Wayne also had a great love for baseball, not just as a fan, but as a player as well. His position was left field. He even received an opportunity to try out for his beloved St. Louis Cardinals. He also loved hunting for arrowheads. Wayne cherished his family and friends.

Wayne married Brenda (Wallace) Owens February 5, 2000, in Xenia, IL. She survives him in Flora. He is also survived by his children: Richard Krutsinger, Larry Krutsinger, Mike Krutsinger, Mary Kae Owens, and Kelly Garrett: 2 step sons Randy and Brad Owens; 2 brothers: Howard & Gene Krutsinger, 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and several step grandchildren.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Maggie (Perry) Krutsinger, four brothers: Ulva, Glenn, Leo, & Arnold Krutsinger, two sisters: Delores Krutsinger and Mildred Tull, and also two infant siblings at birth.

Wayne was a member of the Effingham Assembly of God Church.

Services were held graveside at Floral Gardens of Memory in Flora.

In place of flowers expressions of sympathy should take the form of donations to the Oak Street Baptist Church and can be received at the service or by contacting Byrd & Kohn Funeral Home.
