My great grandmother was born in Markowa, Galicia, Austro-Hungarian Empire, now Markowa, Poland. She was the eldest child of Andrzej (Andrew) & Anna (Gala) Inglot.
In 1911 at the age of 17 she immigrated to Canada with neighbours and friends. She arrived in Winnipeg, Manitoba and took a job in a laundry in Rainy River, Ontario where she worked long, hot shifts ironing bedding. She sent most of her earnings back to her family who planned to immigrate to Canada.
After nine months she decided to visit her cousin Felix Englot and family who had settled near Goodeve, Saskatchewan. She soon took a job as a domestic with the John Willie Stilborn family north of Lemberg, Saskatchewan. During this time she met my great grandfather, Steve Krupski. They were married on January 26, 1913 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Goodeve, Saskatchewan. Her cousin Felix was one of the witnesses for the wedding.
