Henry Matthew Kramer, 97, of Parkersburg, died Aug. 22, 2008, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
He was born in Parkersburg, a son of the late Fredrick Charles and Cecilia (Reich) Kramer.
Henry worked as a pharmacist with his father at Kramer's Drug Store, which was founded in 1904. On the death of his father in 1949, he added a photography department. During the 1960s it evolved into Kramer's Photo Supplies. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where his grandparents were stone cutters who helped build the church. He was in the National Guard and a member of their Rifle Team. He loved outdoor sports, especially fly fishing, and taught many people the art of tying flies.
He is survived by his soulmate of 74 years, Mary McCune Kramer; two sons and daughters-in-law, Henry Johnson Kramer (Conchita) of Shepherdstown, W.Va., and Fredrick Charles Kramer (Rita) of Sugar Land, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ellen Depue (Jack) of Bridgeport, W.Va.; 18 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Fred Kramer and William A. Kramer.
A memorial mass will be 10 a.m. today at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Eric Hall as Celebrant. A gathering of friends and family will be held following the service at the Parish Hall.
