CELINA - Herman Kohnen, 98, one of Mercer County's oldest residents and a retired carpenter, died at 3:25 a.m. Saturday in the Colonial Rest Home, Rockford, where he had been the last 13 years.
A native of Germany, he had lived in Celina many years, later moving to Dayton.
Surviving are two sons, Frank, Mount Healthy, and Lewis, Bond Hill, both Cincinnati suburbs; 14 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
The body will remain in the Pulskamp Funeral Home where friends may call after 7 p.m. Saturday. Requiem High Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the Immaculate Conception Church here. The Rev. Marcellus Fortman will be celebrant and burial will be in St. Henry Catholic Cemetery.
