Mrs. Anna Doonen, 88, 701 Grant street, widow of the late Terrance Doonen, a former assistant fire chief, died at a local hospital last evening at 5:30 o'clock after a brief illness.
The body was taken to the Barden funeral home where it will remain until tomorrow morning. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Mary's Catholic church. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. H. P. Toeller will officiate and burial will be in the St. Joseph's cemetery.
Mrs. Doonen was born in Fond du Lac, Nov 8, 1867. The former Anna Kohler, she was married to Mr. Doonan June 1, 1897 (newspaper typo of 1879/kd).
(KD's note: Ted Doonan married 1st wife Frances Gertschen in 1884 and Frances died 1895, leaving 2 children. Anna Kohler was 1st married to Peter Kelly in May 1894, Peter Kelly drowned in July 1894 while Anna was pregnant with William. William was born Dec 1894 as William Peter Kelley per birth registration in Winnebago Co., WI. --W.K. Doonan's military marker has birth as 1895)
She is survived by a son W.K. Doonen, principal of the Owen high school; three daughters, Mrs. Martin Heise, Milwaukee, Miss Margaret Doonen, Waukegan, Ill., and Mrs. John Kadig, (Kading/kd) Chicago; a brother, Joseph Kohler, Waukesha; five sisters, Mrs. Anton Imhoff, Marathon, and Mrs. Anton Uberlachen (var sp/kd), Mrs. Susan, August, and George Kutcheruter (var sp/kd), all of Wauwatosa. (3 sisters each married Kutschenreuter's/kd)
