Dorothy A. Bates, 79, Plainfield, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home in Plainfield.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the services.

Mrs. Bates was born June 6, 1935, in the town of Preston in Adams County, a daughter of the late Erich and Barbara (Hollman) Koehler.
She was married to Maurice Bates June 14, 1952, in Plainfield. He died June 21, 1987.
She, along with her husband and family, operated the family dairy and sheep farm for many years. She was later employed at the Royal Supermarket of Plainfield for many years. She also worked in various local farm markets as a salesperson.
She was past president of Golden Agers Club and spent time at the Senior Center.
Survivors include two sons, Dale (Maxine) and Mark (Judy), both of Plainfield; three daughters, Ellen (Jere) Erdman, Stevens Point, Cindy (Ron) Hayman, Galloway, and Kristi (Mark) Hintz, Almond; one brother, Richard Koehler; four sisters, Barbara Jean (Bob) Meyers, Beth Kappel, Joan Leinweber and Karen (Charles) Church; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one great-granddaughter.
