He married April 27, 1911 St.James Lutheran Church, rural Humboldt,Nemaha, Ne. to Sophia Caroline (Lena Sophia) Janssen. (1891-1970) They had 6 children, Edwin,Clarence, Lenora, Wilbur, Lila, and Glenn.

Albert and Lena established their home on a farm in Nemaha County, where they lived, with the exception of six months in Smith County, KS, until 1950, when they moved to Humboldt,NE. Mrs. Koehler passed away on Sept. 28, 1970.
Albert was a lifetime member of the St. James Lutheran Church, where he was baptized Mar. 19, 1886, by Pastor William Beckman and later confirmed by Pastor Ludwig Mueller. Albert served on the church council and the school board for many years.
He is survived by 3 sons, Clarence , Wilber, and Glenn KOehler, all of Humboldt: two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Lenora) Volker, of Humboldt, and Mrs. Harold (Lela) Buchholz of Table Rock; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Adela) Sodman of Humboldt, and Mrs. Fred (Lena) Plager of Elk Creek, NE. one sister-in-law, Mrs. Alvin (Minnie) Koehler of Humboldt, 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, Edwin, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Services held on Jan. 6, 1977 at St. James Lutheran Church, rural Humboldt, Nemaha, NE. officiated by Pastor Lowell Asplund. Burial in the church cemetery.
