Marguerite Ann Anderson, 80, died on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, surrounded by her children in Gig Harbor, joining Charlie, the love of her life for the past 60 years, who died on Dec. 14, 2006. She was born in Westport, to Muriel and Nick Knutson. Marguerite spent her early years in Westport with her sisters, Shirley and Elizabeth.
She graduated from Aberdeen High School and soon after met Charles W. Anderson who was serving in the U.S. Army. They were wed on Jan. 31, 1947. A life of raising four sons and moving many times during their life as a military family allowed them to travel across the United States and Europe, which led to their joy of traveling.
For the past 30 years they had lived in Boise, Idaho, where they were active member in the El Korah Shrine and enjoyed snowmobiling. Marguerite took up golf and enjoyed the sport for many years and even got a hole-in-one, an accomplishment she was quite proud of. When they retired, they spent many winters enjoying the sunshine and the warmth of their friends in Yuma, Ariz., where she continued to play golf and became president of the Mesa del Sol Ladies Golf League. She loved her dogs - Collies, Airedales and most recently her Shih Tzu, "Maggie". However, she was most proud of her sons and grandchildren.
Marguerite is survived by her sister, Elizabeth (Harold); sons, Ron (DJ), Charles (Mary), Thomas (Dawnelle), and Robert (Valarie); grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher (Nicole), Maija (Ernest), Marla, Paul (Angie), and Samantha; and great-grandchildren, Danielle, Michael, and Garrett.
A graveside memorial service for both Charlie and Marguerite will be held at 12 noon, on Sunday, April 15, 2007, at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton, Ore.
Remembrances can be made to the Scholarship Fund, United Finnish Kaleva Brothers and Sisters, Lodge #9, in c/o Eleanor Clapp-Shumaker, 3119 Hudson St., Longview, WA, 98632.
