Fairy Edith Knisley, 93, of Creve Coeur died at 2:50 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at her home with family present.

Born Jan. 8, 1917, near Batesville, Ark., to R.D. and Laura Bowen, she married Noah A. Knisley. He died on Nov. 2, 1969, in Peoria.

She also was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters, Ethel Wyscaver, Blanche Varnell, Margie Penn and Edna Spreitler.

Surviving are one daughter, Joan (Bill) Short of Creve Coeur; two grandsons, Ronald Short of Mackinaw and Phillip (Mary Jo) Short of Green Bay, Wis.; two granddaughters, Terry (Owen) Lawson and Julie Troup, both of Creve Coeur; seven great-granddaughters; one great-great-granddaughter; and one sister, Hazel Stokes of Batesville, Ark.

Edith lived in Creve Coeur for 57 years.

She was a member of the Living Church of God in Morton.

She loved visiting with her friends and family. She especially loved preparing dinners for her family and playing games. She enjoyed flowers, feeding and watching the birds at the feeder and collecting dolls.

Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
