Margaret Daly - GRAY
Margaret Esther Knight Daly, age 89, of Gray, TN, passed away at home after a lengthy illness on October 12, 2008.
A native of Olympia, Washington, she was born November 5, 1918. She was the daughter of the late Aubrey S. and E. Lorena Knight. She was married, a homemaker, raised three children, and later worked for the State of Washington Revenue Dept. for 19 years. She was an active member of the Olympia Seventh Day Adventist Church and enjoyed the Olympia Senior Center activities. When she moved to Tennessee in 1993, she moved into her daughter's home where she was a great asset. Margaret was a person who enjoyed the beauty of God's Creation. She was an artist and a photographer. She loved gardening. She demonstrated her love for the Lord by great patience with Life's adversities. Her favorite scripture was John 3:16 and favorite songs were Under His Wings and His Eye Is On The Sparrow.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard G. Daly and three sons Michael O. Daly, Patrick R. Daly, and an infant son. A beloved sister and brother in law, Elizabeth and Carl Westmoreland. Thomas Daly her husbands brother.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Arlene and Keith Hammonds, Gray. Four grandsons: Michael and Suzanne Hammonds, Gray, Daniel and Wendy Hammonds, Knoxville, Samuel and Nan Hammonds, Chattanooga, and Zak Daly, California. Four granddaughters: Erin Daly and Amanda Daly, Olympia, Rebecca Tyler Daly, California, and Joanna and Andy Jones, Gray. Three great-grandsons, Ben, Seth and Nathan Hammonds, Knoxville. Several nieces and nephews scattered through out the country. Carma Westmoreland Budsberg, Olympia, a niece who she was especially close to through out her life.
A special thank you from the family for the kindness extended to Margaret during her life's journey. Thank you dear sister Elizabeth who was very loving and kind at all times. Thank you Catherine Summerland who was like a second mother. Thank you Grandma Marguerite Daly, you were so gracious to a young bride and mother. Later in life, thank you Carol and Jim Kirby and their daughter Cheryl Daly Flynn they were true friends. Thank you dear members of the Olympia Seventh Day Adventist Church who loved and assisted a widow with graciousness. When she moved to Tennessee and had slow deteriorating health and eventually confined to bed. Thank you Ada Oliver and Pat Owens who were very thoughtful and helpful. Thank you JCMC Hospice nurses and caregivers that were so very loving and gave such compassionate and competent care. You made a difference for her when she was weak and dependent on others.
A Memorial service for Margaret Daly will be held 12 noon October 18, 2008, at Wayland Free Will Baptist Church, 206 Harwood Rd., Gray, TN. There will be a fellowship meal after the service. A graveside service and burial will be held at a later date at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Tumwater, Washington. In Lieu of flowers, memorial for Margaret Daly may be made to your favorite charity.
