Rita Knight Baxter, 83, died Wednesday, December 26, 2007, at her residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville most of her life. She was retired from AAFES at Ft. Stewart, and was a homemaker. She was a member of Glennville Free Will Baptist Church where she served as Saxton for 19 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Baxter.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, David and Holly Baxter of Glennville; three grandchildren: Kris Baxter of Augusta and Kaitlyn and Joe Baxter of Glennville; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 29, at Glennville Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Stephen Windham and the Rev. Bruce Roberts officiating. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Charles Winge, Lee McCurdy, Shea Crawford, Henry Mock, Mike Mulligan, and Gary Baxter.

Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home of Glennville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.
