Lillian C. Knauer was born on January 4, 1889, in Brooklyn Township, Lee County, Illinois. She was the eldest of eight children of Mary née Oester and Christian William "Chris" Knauer. She was married to Charles Bauer on February 7, 1910. She and her husband farmed in Brooklyn Township, Lee County, Illinois for many years. They were members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Brooklyn Township. In her later years she was a resident of the Sunrise Nursing Home in Mendota, La Salle County, Illinois and she passed away there, at age 79, on January 21, 1969. Funeral services were held, Friday, January 24, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Reverend Quintan Schowalter officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Edward Gilmore, Casper Wilhelm, Earl Schroeder, Ivan Kern, Maurice Faber, and Robert Avery.
She was survived by her husband and six of her seven siblings.
