Allegheny Township

Rodney C. Klingensmith, 69, of Allegheny Township, died at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday (April 21, 2004) in Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, East Franklin.

Born July 12, 1934, in Punxsutawney, he lived in Allegheny Township for the past 38 years.

During the Korean War, he served in the Marine Corps.

He was a helper on the No. 1 United Mill, cold mill department, Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp., West Leechburg works, for 42 years before retiring in 1993.

Mr. Klingensmith was a member of the Allegheny Presbyterian Church, Allegheny Township, the Sokol Lodge and Moose, both in Leechburg, Parks Slovak Club, Ford City Eagles, and American Legion and Bari Club, both in Vandergrift. He also was a gold card member of the Allegheny Township Fire Department and a member of the Beneficial and Brotherly Love Society of East Vandergrift, Parks, and the Retirees of the United Steel Workers of America.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and wrestling.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Faylyn E. Jackson Klingensmith; three sons, Richard A. (Colleen) Klingensmith of Avonmore, Clifford W. Klingensmith of Putnam, Conn., and Vern J. (Michelle) Klingensmith of Kiskimere, Parks; three daughters, Mrs. Jo (Carl) Isaacson of Spring Church, Kiski Township, Mary Jo Petrella of Vandergrift, and Mrs. Sylvia R. (Mark) Hilty of Kiskimere; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bryan K. (Kim) Klingensmith of Vandergrift and Dwayne E. Klingensmith of Kiskimere; and two sisters, Mrs. Martha "Marty" (William) Jones of Allegheny Township and Mrs. Patricia (Gregory) Duplinsky of Lower Burrell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford W. and Sylvia M. Cochran Klingensmith; a brother, David L. Klingensmith; and two sisters, Laura Jean Bouch and infant Loretta Klingensmith.

Friends will be welcomed by his family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at CLAWSON'S, Second at Main, Leechburg, where funeral ceremonies will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday. Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. Michael S. Wilson. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
