Edward R. Klingensmith
Edward R. Klingensmith, 89, of Gilpin died at 6:45 p.m. Friday (Dec. 14, 2001) in Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, East Franklin.
Born Nov. 15, 1912, in Leechburg, he lived in Gilpin for 52 years.
He was a dispatcher in production control at the Bagdad plant of West Leechburg Works of Allegheny Ludlum Steel for 32 years before retiring in 1977. He previously worked at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, and also had been a coal miner.
Mr. Klingensmith was a member of Christ the King Roman Catholic Parish, Leechburg.
He enjoyed hunting, politics, reading, working on his farm, watching football and playing bingo and the lottery.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Harry (Darlene) Waltenbaugh Jr. of Gilpin, Mrs. Donald (Eileen) Devilling of Gilpin, and Bonnie Lee Witkowski of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two grand-children; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walter M. Klingensmith of Wellsburg, W.Va., and Harold E. Klingensmith of Allegheny Township; and two sisters, Helen Rearick of Allegheny Township and Dorothy Langley of Kinsmen, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel L. Cupec Klingensmith; his parents, Reed R. and Emma E. Stegner Klingensmith; and a sister, Freda Shoop.
Friends will be welcomed by his family from 7 to 9 tonight and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in CLAWSONS, Second at Main Street, Leechburg, where prayers of transfer will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday followed by Christian Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Parish. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.
