COURIER JOURNAL OBITUARY – 05/07/1956
Arthur G. Kleier, a guard at Joseph E. Seagram & Sons, collapsed while making his rounds yesterday [May 6, 1956] and died about 10:15 a.m. on the way to General Hospital. He was 64. Deputy Coroner Harry Elstone said Kleier, 1611 Texas, suffered a heart attack. He had been employed at Seagram 13 years. He was found by fellow guards after he failed to punch a time clock at 9:45 a.m. Kleier was a member of the Holy Name Society at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and of St. Joseph Orphan's Society. He was an Army veteran of World War I. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Anna Rochner Kleier; a son, Robert A. Kleier; a daughter, Mrs. Betty Jean Fleck; four brothers, Henry Kleier, Miami; Herman Kleier, Indianapolis and Ben & George Kleier; three sisters, Mrs. Irene Feldkamp, Mrs. Carrie Brumleve and Mrs. Edna Book, and a grandchild. The funeral will be at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Russman & Son Funeral Home, 1041 Goss, and at 9 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Church. Burial will be in Zachary Taylor National Cemetery.

KLEIER - Mr. Arthur G. passed on suddenly in his 64th year, Sunday, May 6, 1956, at 9 a.m.; family residence, 1611 Texas St. Beloved husband of Mrs. Anna M. Kleier (nee Rochner); loving father of Mrs. Robert (Betty Jean) Fleck and Mr. Robert A. Kleier; loving brother of Mrs. Carrie Brumleve, Mrs. Irene Feldkamp, Mrs. Lawrence (Edna) Book and Messrs. Henry C., of Miami, FL, Herman, of Indianapolis, IN, George & Ben Kleier, of Louisville, KY; also survived by one grandchild, Richard Joseph Fleck. Services for Mr. Kleier will be conducted Wednesday morning at 8:30 in the Chapel of the Godfrey and F. Russman & Son Funeral Home, 1041 Goss Ave., and 9 o’clock at St. Elizabeth Church. Interment, Zachary Taylor National Cemetery. The members of the Holy Name Society will please meet in Russman’s, at 7 p.m., Tuesday, to pray the Rosary. Mr. Kleier was also a member of St. Joseph’s Orphan Society and a veteran of World War I.
