HERNDON, Kan. -- John Mathias Kleidosty, 84, of Herndon, died Monday (Oct. 1, 2001) at Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.

He was born June 16, 1917, to John and Rosalia Kleidosty. He was the former operator and co-owner of the Herndon Pool Hall. He spent his life on the family farm, and in Herndon.

He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1936, and served until 1941. He was inducted in the second military draft from Herndon, and was attached to the 4th Air force Depot Group. His service began in Australia, and he went on to serve in the Phillipines.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and 11 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred of Herndon; three sons, John and wife, Bette of North Platte, Tony and wife, Beverly of Riverdale, and Phil and wife, Keli of Wichita, Kan.; one daughter, Teresa Anderson and husband, John of Denver, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial services will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Herndon with the Rev. Damian Richards officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Herndon.

A parish vigil and Knights of Columbus rosary service will be Friday, 7 p.m., at the church.

Visitation will be Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home of Atwood, and after 6 p.m. at the church.

Memorials may be given in his name.
