Dallas "Ray" Kirkland, age 78 of Gainesville, Missouri passed away Sunday, May 11, 2008 at his residence. He was born May 14, 1929 in Ozark County, Missouri to the late Dallas Roy and Frances Sarah (Daugherty) Kirkland.
Mr. Kirkland worked for the Rollins Shoe Factory in Willow springs, Missouri for 18 years and retired from the Giles and Kendall, Inc. in Gainesville, Missouri after 18 years of service. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, mowing yards, cutting wood, his cat Blackie, feeding wildlife and reading the entire Bible 29 times.
Mr. Kirkland is survived by his loving companion of 29 years Eutha (Trivitt) Kirkland, a daughter: Teresa Stewart and two grandchildren: Thomas and Michelle Stewart all of Lawton, Oklahoma and best friends: Marion Dale, Colleen and Cody Kendall and Michael, Holly and Morgan Strain. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law: Michael Stewart and four sisters: Geraldine Blacksher, Gerrea Hampton, Betty Kirkland and Vonell Kirkland.
A Gathering of Remembrance service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2008 at the Roller Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Estel Grigg officiating. A visitation will be from Noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Howard's Ridge Cemetery.
